“Take a shower, wash off the day. Drink a glass of water. Make the room dark. Lie down and close your eyes. Notice the silence. Notice your heart. Still beating. Still fighting. You made it, after all. You made it, another day. And you can make it one more. You’re doing just fine.” — Charlotte Eriksson
Another week almost finished. Did you barely make it through, or did you punch through it, giving Bipolar the good fight? Here’s to hoping all of us did the latter. Bipolar may be a permanent fixture in our life, but it certainly doesn’t mean it has to rule us. We are still in charge of living our best life, and giving it everything we’ve got.
To quote The Purple One (Prince) today on the first anniversary of his passing:
“Dearly beloved
We are gathered here today
To get through this thing called ‘life’
Electric word, life
It means forever and that’s a mighty long time
But I’m here to tell you
There’s something else
The afterworld
A world of never ending happiness
You can always see the sun, day or night
So when you call up that shrink in Beverly Hills
You know the one, Dr. Everything’ll-Be-Alright
Instead of asking him how much of your time is left
Ask him how much of your mind, baby
Cause in this life
Things are much harder than in the afterworld
In this life
You’re on your own
And if de-elevator tries to bring you down
Go crazy (Punch a higher floor!)”
— from Let’s Go Crazy
Just remember: if the elevator tries to bring you down, punch a higher floor.
Keep fighting, folks. We’re here for each other. We all make a difference.
Have a safe and special weekend!
