“Sometimes, reaching out and taking someone’s hand is the beginning of a journey. At other times, it is allowing another to take yours.” — Vera Nazarian
Share a smile.
Share a hug.
Share a moment.
Share your story.
As people with Bipolar, it’s difficult to share sometimes. Sharing requires putting yourself out there to risk being hurt, ignored, mocked, or rejected. And since we’ve all had our fair share of these feelings in our lives, we tend to shut people out and shut down our emotions.
What we must come to realize is that people project their feelings onto others. If you get laughed at, it’s because that person has been laughed at in the past. If you’re rejected, it’s because that person is avoiding hurt themselves. If you’re ignored, it’s because that person has way too much going on in their own head to be in the present moment.
But this should not deter us from sharing. Just as there are those that can wound us, there are many more that accept us. When we share, we may provide light to a dark place within another person’s heart. We may save them from something painful and offer them something beautiful. And in the process, we may find that we are healing, too.
Let’s dare to share ourselves with another today. We never know the good that will come of it until we try.
Happy Saturday!
